I've just taken notice that in certain areas the D3 maps are purple instead of the usual tan. Why is this? what does the purple signify? and how do i take it off?

This is really picking my brain? what do the purple areas indicate??

The purple designates you are entering "happy" areas, such as Greenwich Village in NYC and the entire city of San Francisco.

Thanks for the reply.

These "happy places" does it mention them in the manual? what else would be a happy place?

I have neve gotten purple, but the different colors on the map indicate a different geographic area. Like all green would be an area full of trees, roads are gray. Not too sure what purple is. I am sure it is listed in the manual

It means that those streets have not physically been mapped yet (by those bright orange cars and vans.) Since that is the case, you may not have turn-by-turn guidance and other navi features
