SOUNDS LIKE YOU GOT A FLEX CABLE PROBLEM!!. pioneer will fix this for free since it was their fault.

Yea definitely sounds like the recalled flex cable.
But you could always try that has worked here for others, is, with the screen closed, hold down the source and band buttons together, chant "mekkalekkahighmekkahineyho" three times, and the screen shoud open.
