I thought I read somewhere that the D3 will say the street names instead of just turn left in ..... Is there any truth to that? Thanks in advance

I am pretty sure it does not say street names. What you are hearing is probably highway names, but definitely not street names.

Yup highway and mojor things like that. Smaller streets and such, you're beat.

This is text from a CNET review:

En route to the required destination, the Avic-D3 uses turn-by-turn voice prompts (including text-to-voice functionality) to call out turns and the names of individual roads.

I guess I'll find out when CF ships my unit. :x LOL

I am pretty sure they are wrong, as I have a D3 and have never heard it do that.

Even pioneers website makes no mention of text to speech for the D3, but they splash it all over the place for the Z1/Z2 units.

Yes, you are right, I have not heard small street names.

Goes to show you CNET is full of BS, and they have the nerve to give the unit a 6.4 rating. :?:
