Before I get flamed, I don't think this has been posted anyware but I could be wrong.

I just got a z2 put into my 02 Mustang GT with the Mach 460. I got the bluetooth adapter for it and successfully paired it to my Verizon e815. To my dismay, even though I have enabled OBEX on it I was unable to send contacts to the z2. I was about to flash the phone to the alltel firmware when I got an idea. Even if I flashed it with the alltel fw I would only be able to send 1 contact at a time (I tested this with my friend's alltel e815. So I decided to try and send my contact list with my 17" PowerBook. I tried to pair it and it would see the z2 but only list it's services as PIONEER HDD NAVI and nothing else. Well here's the long and short of how to get it to work:

1. Connect your phone to the z2.

2. Press the Read Bus. Card button on the phone menu. At this point your phone will disconnect. This is where I got the idea to try this, I thought This might be where the bluetooth unit switches to accept OPP stuffs. I might be crazy also but it works.

3. Open up your iBook/MacBook/PowerBook/MacBookPro and open up your Address Book. Select the cards you want to send and drop down the card menu at the finder bar.

4. Select "Send this card" from the menu and You'll get a blue tooth screen. Pick your z2 from the list and and hit the select button. At this point you should get a screen asking for the pairing code. The default one is 1111 for the z2, if you changed it, use the one you changed it to obviously. The z2 will say that it's reconnected to your phone but it's actually getting the list from your laptop. I know this because my laptop is called Unicron and my Phone is Megatron and it definately said it was connected to megatron. It even used my phone's mac address and not my PowerBook's mac address. Anyway, the address book will show that it's sending the cards and then the z2 will ask you if you want to send any more. Hit no and and your done!!! Enjoy not having to type all your numbers in 1 by 1 fellow Verizon users (excluding the chocolate owners :P)

This should work on the z1 but I am unaware as I don't have one around here to try it on. The good thing is that you can send as many contacts as you want. The z2 automatically puts the last name first so it really looks like a phone book and people are easy to find. Hope this helps anyone that was disappointed that their Verizon phone wouldn't send their contacts to this bitchin' head unit ^_^

Has anyone gotten this method to work on an AVIC-D3 with BTB-200? I tried using address book, and it connected and transfered and the D3 said complete, but when i go to the address book it is still blank. Any ideas?

Try my workaround that I found for the d3 here:

It may work with the Z series as well, third post down.

That is for using a phone and using the 6 pre sets. I am trying to figure out if I can use address book with the D3 to do a full transfer names and all. Any one who has had sucess please help.

No!! You cant. Not untill Apple updates the phone to support syncing contacts to other devices, if they ever do. That is why I came up with the workaround.

I know the phone is limited. I am trying to use a mac osx based laptop with Bluetooth and adress book to sync to a d3 like the original poster.

Ok, that situation from the original poster almost has to be a unique occurrence to that situation only and with that phone only. I think that what he did is probably not even necessary with others using that phone, maybe firmware related or something with his phone. Nevertheless the iphone most likely wont work like his did because you cant get the iphone to disconnect from BT when you try to import the contacts. That is the only way he got it to work with his phone is he could at least go one step up to almost completion but you cant take that step with the iphone until Apple updates the phone for contact push, if they ever do. Of course im just speculating but im willing to bet im right. I tried the same proceeder from my RAZR as he did with his Macbook and didnt get anywhere. But if you do get it to work let us know and ill be the first to admit I was wrong and will immediately follow your findings.

His phone is not compatible with address book transfers, so he used his computer instead. I also have an incompatible phone as many users here do. I am wondering if i could use the same technique he used on his Avic-Z2 on my avic-d3 or any other avic for that matter. I know the phone must be registered with the unit and the phone probably needs to be connected as well. I am just trying to find a little input from other members using computers for address book transfers from Mac, windows, or linux based computers to any type of avic successfully. I understand that it may be limited to a few phones but i would like to put the idea out there. I have tried with a Mac and Avic-D3 and y iPhone with no luck so far. Thanks VBLUE42 for your above post. Sounds like macs have some compatibily, any windows users? Thanks guys.
