I dont see how you cant use an AVIC as the video screen for the AVG-VDP1... The video out is an RCA cable (as seen in installation manual link below). Why cant you just install the AVG and use the Avic as the video screen? I just want the AVG so I can get the Performance readouts that it has

what avic do you have?

The vehicle dynamics box uses a yellow RGB cable to get video signal to the deck, not a regular video cable. Thats why it can't be used with Pioneer nav systems, they have no RGB input. If you look at the diagram you linked, the standard video cable is going to a recorder (vcr, etc.) not the display

I have an N1 with N3 software

Isnt there a converter from RGB to RCA? (if not they should) I just think having that would be soo tight with the Avic

if you have the n3 software, dont you already have the vehicle dynamics mode?

I dont know...I havent installed it yet...does it have the Horsepower and torque estimates on the N3?

Nope

dont you think there is a converter for RGB to RCA out there?

Doubt it, they use a weird plug for RGB. And the picture quality would probably be awful

wouldnt this work?

I think it might as long as the connection on the brain of the AVG-VDP1 was a female....

what do ya think?

Don't think so. It says 26 pin to 20 pin RGB, not RGB to video. Its for older nav systems

I don't think it will work. But if it does, be sure and let us all know

Yea, I dont know if ill do it....Its kinda an expensive guess and check

That doesn't work with the avics. It even says so on pioneer's website and in the manual....

I know it says that...but tell me this...How can it not work if you have the video input coming into the avic from it? As long as someone had that converter box, there is no reason for it not to work

Because the one thing everyone is forgetting, is that not only is video transmitted down the "rgb" cable, but data as well is sent. There in lies the problem. But hey, if you want to try it be my guest.

Then how in the hell does a RGB converter work when it transmits it straight to the A/V cables on that box?

I have no idea if it will work, but if it did work, don't you think Pioneer would advertise that it does so they can sell more of those VDP boxes? They have been rotting on store shelves for like two years

You know what jus do it. Have fun hope you're able to return everything when it doesn't work.
