Start up Audio selection

Hi all,

My AVIC-Z1 has the annoying habit of choosing a different audio input when I start up the unit. I have the following inputs available:

iPod

Internal hard drive database

FM

AM

Siruis

Normally, I listen to the iPod. When I shut the car down and then restart however, it switches me over to FM radio. If I am listening to FM radio, it switches me over to AM.

It is consistent in what it switches me over to (ie. it is not completely random), but I would like it to stay with the same audio input that I had it on when I shut the car off.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

You don't by chance have the PAC SWI-PS installed do you?

If so, that's your problem. There is a failure of them where they do what you describe when you turn off the car. Sometimes reprogramming will fix that, but you might need a new unit.

What's happening is when you are on the AV screen and you hit the AV button, it will switch to the next media "device" or type. And upon startup or shut down the SWI-PS is sending that command to your Z1 for no reason. The Z1 I think is fine, but is getting the command from the SWI-PS to change modes.

If you don't have one of these, and I'm willing to bet money you do, that's not normal for the Avic to behave and is very weird.

I had that problem with my Z1 it would even change the audio source as I was driving on occasion but since I swapped the Z1 for the Z2 I have not had a single incident.

I do indeed have the PAC SWI-PS. It sounds like you think I have a bad unit... I'll try reprogramming it, but if that does not work, should I just go buy another PAC SWI-PS?

Thanks!
