Took a few pix of my install in my F150..Thanks to all the members for all the info on this site. Did the bypass mod and installed the VSS ,reverse wire & camera. I placed the GPS antenna on my dash tray, I cut the rubber where the antenna sits so the GPS sits flat in the tray.

nice job

hey destinydog, if your looking at this, your antenna is going to be directly under where his radar detector is, with the wire going between the two panels

I did not use the Pioneer cam that I got, I used a infared round cam it was placed in the OEM location for a backup sensor.

The fix for that should be as simple as providing a 5-volt turn on lead instead of 12-volt. There are different ways of reducing the voltage but any decent stereo shop should be able to point you in the right direction.

That camera is similar to the one I'm looking at. How is the pic quality, and if possible could you post them? Thanks!

I have an AVIC Z2 in my garage and I plan to install it in my 2004 FX4 F150 this weekend.

A couple of questions:

1. Did you have any problems with the Satellite reception with the antenna placed on the dash, per your pics?

2. Are you able to view DVD while driving?

Don't know about watching DVD whlie driving on the Z2, but the GPS satellite antenna works just fine underneath my dash. ('06 F-150.) I have an Avic D3. XM antenna must be located outside the cab because the reception isn't good enough under the dash.

elchorizon- what color wire was the vss and reverse? also, where did you find them? thanks

Posted Jun 21, 2007 · 06:05 UTC#16

the vss wire is the gray/black wire in the factory ford harnes. you will prolly need to unwrap the wires to tap into it. i don't know where the reverse wire is, i think it is down along the driver side kick panel, but don't know which wire it is.

i have a 04 new body style f150
