I installed my Z1 today. I pretty much had the install planned out in my head, but it didn't take long at all. Maybe 1.5 hours total.

I will admit that I was replacing an existing radio, and as expected unit unit just fit right in there. Only delays were routing Mic, VSS and GPS antennea. The antennea went under my clock ('04 WRX STI), so it's not visible to anyone. I'll see how reliable it is.

So, some questions now...

The GPS signal doesn't make any sense to me. I see 8 Sat's most orange one yellow and some grey. There is also the green signal bar. What do the orange/yellow sat's mean? I assume grey means no signal.

Destination search, seems to always want to dial a phone number. This is via the voice commands, I selec Destination, then POI, then "Baja Fresh" and it traisl to call "Bradley", but I don't even have the BT unit yet. Any ideas why it doesn't actually search the POI list?

That's it for now. First impressions are so/so... Map/Tracking is dead on, but my first trip to a PIO, and it maps it about 1/2 mile down the road, when it's right at the corner. It's not even in the same complex, in fact where the POI icon is, it's just a hill, not even suitable for development.

This isn't a problem around town, but in an unfamiliar area, this would really suck. I assume the mapping of addresses is just off, but how likely is it that this will be resolved, along with the 100's of other peoples issues with mappingf on this site.

I'm off to Pioneer's site to register my unit now. Thanks to all on this site for your information. It made the install very easy, including Ducatiboy's bypass.

Now I'm just wiating on the BT & iPod adapter.

hey there,
i have heard several people complain about the mapping. And it seems that the antenna location could be to blame. If your signal isnt as great as it could be it could throw of your location. Just my two cents.
cvongrats on teh lightning fast install.

I would agree silveradojeff, but ths issue is not with the vehicle's location on the map, but the actual gas station and mini-plaza's location on the map. The map should be accurate 100% of the time. The vehicle's location is the only thing that should change (assuming restarants aren't on wheels).
