Hello..

I would like to buy either a Z1 or Z2 for my avalanche...mostly for my toddler to watch tv  (what the wife thinks)

I obviously want it to play while driving..

My delima...a used, or refurb even z1 seems to run close to the 1400 range and I see the z2 new on a few websites for $1600 and some change

Its pretty much a double edge sword as I would be taking a chance on each..the used one may not work...the z2 may not ever become bypassable...

What do you guys think??

Thanks in advance!!

Tim

I think the Z2 will become bypassable, just like every other Pioneer nav EVER released

I think very few installers would install a used unit. They will charge you a "bench test" fee that could be steep. Also, the installer is going to charge you more for not purchasing the unit through them. I don't know if you are planning on installing it yourself, but it's not for everyone. Just consider the total cost of the entire setup/install.

Thats not necessarily true. My installer didn't charge me any extra when I bought from D2 from Crutchfield and had them install it. It varies by installer.

The Z2 will become bypassable. You are taking a chance on a used Z1, not to mention the fact that if you want the upgraded maps it'll cost you an extra $250 once the update comes out, AND it'll disable your bypass on the Z1.

the install is not a issue. I can handle it.

I suppose it would be better to go with the latest/gratest as upgrades for the z1 would likely do the same as the current z2 bypass is concerned??
