2 question regarding new install?

Hey all,

Just had my 12/06 Z1 installed in my 08 Super Duty and I couldn't be happier. I have the bypass, bluetooth, XM, Auxillary input, and rear camera.

My questions are:

The Auxillary input from my truck was hooked up to the Z1 so that I could play any mp3 player or device with a 3.5 jack. It works with my son's ipon nano. I am not that familiar with this but I was wondering, they hooked the jack up to the AV input on Z1 (or at least that is what I press on the Z1 to get the ipod to work). Does anyone know if it is capable of playing video say from a video ipon through the 3.5 inch jack on the Z1 screen or do the Video Ipods have a different output for the video source vs. audio source?

The second question is regarding the vehicle diagnostics on the Z1. What are the 3 screens? Middle one is speed, right one is direction, and the left one is covered with "function not available at this time" sticky so I don't know what it is suppossed to do.

Thanks in advance.

You can change the left and right diagnostic screens.

To do so, go to the display and touch the guage. It'll bring up a list of options.

Some of the options may not be available until the units gyros become calibrated. The acceleration and side acceleration guages will only become available once you have driven your vehicle a few hundred miles with the Z2 installed.

you can play ipod video if you use a three way cable. but they probably only used a two way for audio, try it and see

When installing the Z2 can I ground the parking brake wire from the Z2 harness, instead of tapping it to the parking brake?

And when I ground the parking brake wire from the Z2, can I ground the wire to the ground coming from the factory radio harness?

Like to also add that since the wiring of the male pins of metra harness I purchased to connect my factory amp and subwoofer doesn't match the factory wiring pin outs. I'm going to discard the metra harness.

Since the connections will have to be made inside the dash for connecting the amp and sub. Will using wire nuts or using the tap connectors be good enough to splice into the factory harness?

Thanks in advance

Not unless you want an annoying ERROR message coming up every time you start the car

you dont use wire nuts in a car

yeah you risk shorting something out. Wire nuts dont hold very well when bumped repeatedly.
