Hello all,
I had the Z1 installed for a few weeks with no problems. Then I had the steering wheel control harness installed and now I get a static noise for aprox 2 seconds after any button pressed. Any Ideas?
Another thing, does anyone get a rattle from the unit when driving with the screen tilted? I wonder if putting a light grease on the hinge points would dampen it.
Thanks - Joe

Check to see if your mic is connected to your guide speaker output. Mine was making static every time you pressed the volume, or the guide spoke...hope this helps.

That was it! Kind of. The mic jack was not fully seated.
Thanks for the reply.

I am having the exact same problem, but I would call it more of a white noise after the button is pressed. I checked the Mic as listed here, and it is in the right spot, and fully seated... Any other suggestions?

Little more info: Pretty much Standard install in a 2006 Mazda MX-5 w/Bose using Metra wiring harness and trim panel. Had to use pioneer regular harness, and RCA harness for amp turn on only. Reverse, and VSS not connected at all.

(another question is does anyone know VSS wire for this unit w/Bose (bose seems to matter because is excluded in harness w/bose))

(2nd another question Metra ILL is connected to TNS+ (on Mazda Terminal Layout Diagram) What is TNS and is it right? (Seems to besides white noise)

what exactly do you guys mean about the mic being "seated" properly? do you mean .... making sure the jack is completely pressed in the jack?

thanks.

Yes, that is it, and also make sure it is in the right spot (there are 2 mini phono plugs right next to each other)
