So what I did was I used a DPDT switch that would normally let the speed go to the unit and not the parking brake. Then when I switched it, the speed cut off and the parking brake went in. We have all heard of this before, right? What it did was let me use the functions while driving for about 20 seconds (which was enough time to dial a number or change a route) then it would detect speed again and cut out. This would work over and over again.

However, it turns out that when the unit detects the speed, then I cut it off and I'm still moving, the GPS goes WAY off and does NOT come back untill I adjust the location manually again.

Just when I thought I had something going.

This is most likely due to it's internal gyro (or more accurately accelerometers but gyro is easier to say). There is no way to switch that out. You can unplug all external stuff and it can still determine motion, some vehicles take longer than others and usually till you drive around for 100 miles or so it won't use that internal gyro as a determination. Which is why that switch thing works for installers who test vehicles for 5 miles and give them to customers but after a while the customer gets something that doesn't quite work.

Switching out the external speed inputs is never the right answer. There is something else.

It's as though we need to install a multiple poll relay that brings all gyro directional voltages down to there idle reference points. Or something NOT requiring us to take this thing apart. This sucks...
