Does anyone know where I might find a list of cities that Navtraffic is available in/ future cities? I can't find it on the XM website, and it's not currently in my city. Wondering if it will be any time soon.

Well it just came it Minneapolis/St. Paul in the past two years and I have to say it's not all that impressive.

I mean it only works on the highways near the cities. On those highways you don't know you're about to be arse deep in traffic till it happens. Out near the burbs (only 20 min out of the city) forget it, you're not going to get coverage there.

Just saying how it works in my city. Most likely it'll be the same other places too.

The information delivered to the Z1 is only as good as the information the NavTraffic people get. California has a much more robust traffic information gridwork than other states. I always get alerts in and out of metro areas within the state. Ill be driving down a rural road, and Ill see the accident logo on the screen...sure enough i always see the CHP doing something on the side of the road.

Yes, sometimes the information is not as current as we would like, but I would hazzard to guess the issues are not with NavTraffic, but with in the infrastructure in place to deliver the electronic information from the road sensors to the data centers, and eventually our Z1's

Just my $0.02!

Here you go...

Unfortunately, Jacksonville isn't listed yet. But the list is growing pretty fast now. And by the way, here in Phx, it's a very nice system. It includes traffic flow data too so you can tell where the log jams are. There are a couple of features I have yet to figure out with the Z1, but I just got it too...so I'll get there. All in all...it's well worth the money so far.

I posted this a couple of years ago over at xm411.com. The PDF file is still on the primediabusiness server. It lists what cities are in phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3. I believe phase 2 is over now and we should start seeing phase 3 cities soon. Jacksonville is a phase 3 city. You'll need to go to page 38 to see the list of cities.

Awesome. Thanks alot, guys! Good info. BTE, Wilson, that is a really cool presentation of XM's entire plan of execution. I've always been pretty skeptical of sat radio, but I've gotta say, I'm much more impressed w/ XM having read the entire document. I was especially impressed that their XM WX is FAA certified.
