New here, new to AVIC units, and i'm after a bit of help please!
I've recently purchased a car with an AVIC-F950BT unit, and I'd like to update it to the latest software. It is currently running v1.00
According to the pioneer website, the latest firmware is v1.06, which i've downloaded.
A couple of questions firstly:
- Is v1.06 really the latest version? (I've seen people talking on here of v2 and v3 but I assume these are for different models only?)
- Is there much difference between V1 and V1.06
Anyway, to the update process that i'm having no luck with. I'm following the instructions as per this file:

I've downloaded the v1.06 zip file and unzipped it
Formated a microSD card (FAT32, a sandisk 32gb SDHC card)
Copied the AVICX850 folder to the microSD card (on my pc)
Powered up the head unit
Gone to the AV menu, and selected "Source off"
Inserted the sd card
At this point it seems that should be all there is to it. The sd card icon shows up in the media menu, but no firmware update begins.
