Use a wire harness. 70-1721 and the dash kit is 99-7865. That'll make the avic look a lot better in the dash.

Okay and I hope y'all don't bite my head off lol Im new to this and Im a ask a nOOb question. SORRY IN ADVANCE

But what MisFit posted up, are those wires all in my car or is it what I need to get??? And what about this wire harnass??? I gotta get a new one??? Sorry for askin these nOOb questions. And how hard is it to install and one last question, where did y'all place ur antenna for the navi??? Wheres the BEST place to hide it or place it and still get GREAT signal?

Thanx again

the wires i gave are the ones in your factory radio harness. the harness cntrylvr79 gave will plug into that harness in the car. then you just match the colors to your avi, with the exception of the vss and reverse, you have to hardwire them. its not difficult at all. put antenna on dash near windshield. it wont look bad, and will work fine

But back to bidness, umm since this is goin to be my first time installin a navi system in my car on my own, what should I look out for??? Reason why Im doin this is cause I wanna learn on how to do a clean install. I purchased the Metra 99-7865 already. Looks like Im a have to cut the middle out. What else is need. And thanks a million.

your biggest challenge as a first timer is going to be removing the factory radio. Honda seems to think their radios are made of gold or something, and make you take everything apart to get it out. do not try to pry it out. there are hidden screws you need to remove first. dont remember off the top of my head without looking at it, they change from year to year. just poke sround and dont just go yanking shit

Correct me if Im wrong but isn't it like this for the 2001-2005 Civic(no reverb)

12v Ignition/Acc... Red

12v Batt/Memory... Yellow

Ground ................ Black*

Powew Antenna..... Blue

Amp Turn-On........ Blue/White

Amp Ground......... Black/White

Illumination.......... Orange

Dimmer............... Orange/White

Speakers

RF(+)..... Gray

RF(-)...... Gray/Black

LF(+)...... White

LF(-)....... White/Black

RR(+)..... Violet

RR(-)...... Violet/Black

LR(+)...... Green

LR(-)....... Green/Black

And it also indicates that when a Black wire is not present, ground radio to vehicle chassis. All colors may not be present on all leads due to manufacturer's specifications.

Those are the color codes for after market harness. All you have to do is match the wire colors from the avic harness to the metra harness. As far as how to take the radio out, this will help with that one.

on a side note. Hey JasonH how about a new title for Misfit there.

Sorry for askin a nOOb question again but do I have to buy the Metra Harness? What do I need 2 do now?

Posted Apr 15, 2007 · 00:24 UTC#16

Not if you already have one from the radio that's lready installed into your car.

Well I got an aftermarket Apline head unit in it now but I did not install it but chances are I should have one correct?

Posted Apr 15, 2007 · 00:32 UTC#18

Yeah, all you'll have to do is cut the alpine end off and connect the avic end to it. If you're confucsed, when you're ready to do the install, snap a couple pics of the harness I'm sure one of us will be able to walk you through the install.

DAMN cntrylv79, as soon as u said "CUT" u have me scared as bank teller wit a gun in her face. Im a have to cut the end off and rewire the colors to the matchin colors on the AVIC??? And thanks a lot will be postin pix when I start it.

Posted Apr 15, 2007 · 04:43 UTC#21

Relax. I'll try this with ascii.

Here's what you'll have when you take out the alpine radio that's currently installed in the car.

(Alpine)---------------------------(honda)

So what you want to do is cut it at the connectors that were used to put the 2 together. ( The X)

(Alpine)-------------X--------------(honda)

Now you can get rid of the Alpine side of that. Final step is to take the harness tha tcame with the avic and splice it into the honda plug you have. Remember match the wire colors that's all.
