I have done a D1 in a H3. No problem. Metra makes a nice double din mounting kit for it. I think the p/n is 95-3304. Even used the factory xm antenna for sirius tuner. Works perfect. Also saved the on-star, again no problem. Go ahead, enjoy.

Thanks guys... for the responses

htrdlnc, is there a special harness you used to connect to the stock wires without, solder , cutting?

I know about the chimes and onstar... also scosche makes a nice double din 1595B. my problem is the H3 is a new model and nobody has any specifics or aftermarkets for it. kind of confused.

i am sure it can work in the h3 , just wanted it to be as simple as possible :)

I used a Metra adapter. It saves cutting any wires. It also utilized the factory amp and saves the on-star. I believe Crutchfield sells all that stuff.

Nafs:
I have the Z1 in my H3. I first used the Pac OS2-Bose and it didnt like onstar much.

Today we went with the Metra Adaptor with no hitch. It fits great and looks great.

Can you guys give the model number/part number for this "Metra" adapter?

You need it for bose or nonbose?

No Bose system on the H3; it is either base or Monsoon.

I used Peripheral adapters.

Another hint, your VSS wiring may be in one of the connectors going to the radio. If not, it will be in the large connector under the right (passenger) kick panel.

If installing a rear camera, you can pick up a rear backup light feed in the left (driver) side A-pillar.

Must not have searched too well on the Hummer sites, there are quite a few discussions on the Z1 install. :D
