i want to convert back to the 40 series software on an n1, from the updated 50. I have heard that the flash memory can be removed and reinserted to be able to reload the older software, is this correct and has anyone done this before. if so what is the procedure for doing so? Thanks.

you will need the pioneer cd-r11 remote remote which is discontinued or you can use the CXB7426 remote which took the place of the cd-r11 to input the password. i have the step by step walkthrough if you have those remotes.

You won't need the remote.. Read the posts..

BAND button = BACK in the service menu
POS button = NAVI button in service menu

The password doesn't require remote either. It is done on the left joystick
UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, ENTER (push in)
