ETA has always been way off......

I purchased the Z1 about a year ago and the estimated arrival time has always been way off. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there anything I can do to make it more accurate? Also, the bluetooth has the bad echo problem and I understand there is a suposed fix out there but I would lose my "flash the headlights" bypass. Does this bluetooth fix work and is it worth losing the bypass feature? Lastly, over the last couple of months, when the truck has been sitting in the sun, the Z1 freezes on the pioneer screen and will not work unless I restart the truck? Any insight into these issues is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Yah, I think everyone has this problem in one way or another. I don't really pay too much attention to it. Usually it's way longer than you really take to get there. It's underestimating how fast you are driving on the roads you are on. I always though it was way high, but when I drive the speed limit and in the busy NYC area, it's always ends up pretty close for me. Maybe it's different in different areas. But I don't think there is anything you can do.

You don't have to lose your bypass but you do have to change how you do it. If you have a circuit (mine or whatever) to flash your lights for you, that will no longer work and would probably be uninstalled. If you flash your lights manually it won't work anymore. But the info on the new bypass is here:

Some say the bluetooth update is a life saver, some say it's no better with it. I saw improvement. But I could get it so I could hold a conversation without any echo before the update. Mic placement and low volume of the phone call. So YMMV.

I have never seen this. Makes me think something might be going wrong with the hard drive, but I don't know. Never seen that.

its estimates are based on the speed limits, and none of us drive that slow. there is a setting in the menus to change what speed limits it designates to different types of roads

Its still off even with the changes....not a big deal to me, I do it in my head based on the milage display and my speed...

My D1 and D3 ETA has always been dead on. Wonder why the HDD pieces are so off

When I take trips from North Dakota to Southern California the ETA will be something like 39 hours even though the drive takes no more than 30 hours with the wife and I taking turns driving straight through only stopping for food and gas. As you would expect, the closer we get the smaller the ETA gets. By the time we actually arrive, the ETA has wound down to zero but it still only took about 30 hours. My Z1 basically re-evaluates the ETA during our trip and changes the ETA accordingly.

Is it possible this is why you think your d-series units have been dead on?

I guess during short trips, the ETA might be more accurate and/or more noticeable if the ETA is off. During long trips it might be harder to notice it unless you already know how long your trip is actually supposed to take. Just a thought.

I have never taken a trip longer than seven or eight hours, but take a few every week for work that are around three hours each way. I already know where I am going but always set the route anyway to get the navtraffic prompts. The ETA is always right on when I leave the house, only traffic and/or stops on the way throw it off by more than a few minutes, nothing close to the magnitude you guys are experiencing

mine is always off by a LOT. I just ignore it.
