Is there any way to use the existing factory XM antenna on my '07 Pontiac Solstice GXP with the AVIC-D3? Read a thread in the Solstice Forum that an individual who installed the AVIC-D3 in his Solstice was told by his installer they could not use his factory XM antenna.

I hate to have to install the antenna provided with the HU and still have the factory antenna still mounted on the trunk lid. Not sure if GM uses some proprietary antenna connection that is only compatible with their XM reciever.

I know when I had an Apline head unit installed in my GMC Sierra the installer used the existing factory XM antenna.

Yes you can reuse the factory xm antenna with an after market xm tuner. You just have to remove the plastic piece that surrounds the factory plug.

Does Pioneer's GEX-P10XMT qualify as an after market XM tuner that with the removal of the plastic piece that surrounds the factory plug will work?

Any xm tuner not supplied from the factory in a vehicle is an aftermarket xm tuner.

aso on some instead of removing the plastic there is just one notch thats different that you can grind off. may not be the case with yours but id check first.

It can be done. I used Fords sirius factory antenna on my dads explorer to hook up an xm commander. Just have to take the plastic off like said
