Kenwood DDX6019/DNX7100 motorized face -- STICKS OUT TOO FAR

Hello all,

I am one of the many here who have deliberated back and forth between the D3 and Kenwood models.

Something that I have not seen talked about however, is that fact that the Kenwoods have a motorized face, which prevents you from mounting it flush in your dash. The motorized face requires the receiver to stick out from the dash, which loses the OEM look.

This is a huge strike for me, because I have an 05 Altima, which has a very sleak low-profile dash (see below). I don't think it would look stock if the receiver is sticking out from that dash 1/2". But hey, I would love to be proven wrong. I would be cruious if anyone has been able to do a clean install with the Kenwood models?

Thanks for any info,

-Davide

The d3 is going to do pretty close to the same thing. either unit can be made to site more flush, however you'd have to modify the factory radio brackets a bit.

I don't think it'd make that much difference. Since your radio is curved, it could never be completely flush. In fact, it might not look that bad because I'm guessing the radio will have to sit inset somewhat due to your curved dash which would reduce the amount that it sticks out.

I'd get the nav unit and replace the car with one that has a flat dash.... :D
