yes that model has been discontinued. you might be able to find one one ebay but the prices are crazy high. other tv tuners work but you lose touch control.

what are the options. and what am i giving up by not getting the pioneer.

you would not be able to change the tv station by touching the screen you would have to use the remote that comes with the tv tuner.

Don't forget that after Feb 2007, there will be no more analog broadcast, making the, now discontinued, tuner obsolete.

I think that date is Feb 17, 2009, so you still have a couple years to use the analog tuner. I can't believe Pioneer isn't making an analog/digital hybrid tuner to use in the meantime. It's very annoying to spend 2 grand on a HU and not be able to get a TV tuner for it.

Do what I did. Get a cheap 4 channel diversity tv tuner from BOSS. Dirt cheap and it works.
