Is there any reason that the Z1 is more expensive than the Z2?

From the way that I see it is the Z1 costs more because it can be bypassed and the Z2 is less because it cant be done. Hopefully im wrong but that is my philosophy until proven wrong.

But honestly why else would the older unit be more expensive than the new unit? If someone could explain this please do so because i would like to know.

Maybe the same reason why my new tivo was cheaper than the first replay that I bought. New electronics get better and cheaper. Or it could just be a change in the marketing people.

But they are about the same street price.

Because it's all about the race to zero.

ok but they still sell both on the website i understand that prices go down but why would pioneer themselves be selling the older model money than the newer models

Pioneer doesn't sell them on their web site, they list the units they make and their MSRP. The Z1 site is over a year old and that was the MSRP. The Z2 is now $50 cheaper than the Z1. That doesn't change what the MSRP was when the Z1 came out.

Also Pioneer doesn't have any more Z1's. They stopped making them months ago. Now they just make Z2's. I'm willing to bet they stopped selling them as well.

Any place that still has a Z1 that is actually for sale would most likely have it for less than the Z2.
