I just got a budget $200 install for my AVIC-D3 and I got what I paid for, as the system has a hell of a lot of engine noise.

Anyway, I'm planning on taking it to a good installer to get it rewired, but I won't have time for a week, so I want to know how do you turn the AVIC-D3 off. If I mute it I still hear the alternator whine, so I want to power the whole thing off till I can get it fixed.

Budget $200??? Even Best Buy does it for less then that. Half the places you can get them to do it for free as long as you buy it from them.

Who installed it? For $200 I would expect a clean install. Maybe not hooking up the VSS or reverse wire if it was a pain, but the basic audio connections should be solid and free of interference. I would get your money back.
