Hello Everyone,

This is my first post to this site and I must say that it is an awesome resource! Because of the good info on this site, I am going to purchase an AVIC-D3 for my 2005 Ford Five Hundred Limited. But before I buy, I want to make sure that my car does indeed have a VSS/Speed wire. Based off of reading the other info for Fords, I assume that the wire is gray/black wire in the harness, correct? Also, I need the location fo the reverse wire as well. Thanks guys for all of your help!

Reverse Light white/yellow + driver kick or SJB, conn. E, pin 18

FORD, FIVE HUNDRED, 2005, Reverse Light

The SJB (Smart Junction Box) is the fuse/relay box under the driver side dash.

I can't find a VSS wire for you though.

Thanks a ton vicn77. Does anyone have any info about the VSS wire location? I really don't want to buy the D3 unless everything works properly. Thanks!

I have a D3 in my '06 Zephyr and the VSS is not needed. The NAV system is dead on with MPH and tracking.

Thanks MisFit and naplesbill......your comments have easied my fears. Naplesbill, is your GPS antenna installed on the inside or outside of your car? I think I just might order my D3 this evening.... :)

I have the GPS antenna on my dash and I get 5-6 bars most of the time.

Excellent.....I was planning on doing the same with my 500. Thanks naplesbill. Now if I can only find a good deal on a D3....I hate that I miss the Crutchfield deal by a couple of days. Thanks again!
