The option in the settings on the ipod your looking for is "tv out" it must be turned ON in order to view videos on the D3. You must also have your videos in a playlist if you want to be able to use the D3 controls to skip between different videos.

Becuase that's the old ipod interface, it doesn't even work that well with the d3. The d3 sees that interface as an external device. Which means you get very limited control.

doing further research i found out my classic is version 1.0.3 and im assuming thats why its not working. does anyone know how to downgrade it?

Posted Jan 04, 2008 · 04:03 UTC#14

yea i can not use my ipod either on d3.... I ahve new firmware as well. Whats the deal?

Posted Jan 04, 2008 · 04:32 UTC#15

Roll the firmware version back to 1.0.2 and it should work.

There's a couple of topics on this board about it if you want to search.

But I'm sure there's a million websites telling you how to roll an ipod's firmware back to a previous version floating around on the internet.

still can't get it to downgrade

Posted Jan 05, 2008 · 18:39 UTC#17

Did you download the 1.0.2 firmware AND the signature file?

Replace those files with the 1.0.3 files in the proper directory...internet instructions say something like docs and settings/user/app data/ ipod... something like that, google it.

Then you must run the update via itunes. YOU MUST TURN OFF AUTO UPDATES FIRST. To do so, open itunes, Edit, Preferences, and untick 'check for update automatically'.

Then plug in your pod, click on your device on the left hand pane under Devices in Itunes, and then click 'restore', click Yes to use the old firmware, and that should do it. If you get an error after you click restore about not being able to find the firmware, please see the link below.
