why does the mic that comes with it suck?

it seems to not pick up too well even holding it about 5-10 inches away from the mouth.

i was just playing with a friends mic because he has yet to mount it. it just sound like it does pick up much of the sound that is comming out of my mouth.

I havent had any problem with it mounted just to the right of the drivers side A-pillar....
