My Z1 plays normally in AM, FM, and iPod modes... but in Library mode, the volume is really low and staticky. The beeps are really low in volume too. CD mode is the same way. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Works in AM/FM and Ipod but not the others? You sure ipod works?

My first guess cause a lot of people have this issue is that you have amps in the car and they are not being turned on due to the fact they were hooked to the power antenna and not the amp turn on signal. This usually manifests itself as no sound at all, but it's possible with no power the amp just sounds like crap and there is no amplification. Go into the sound AV settings then system settings and and look for auto antenna and it should be settable to all the time or just radio, switch it to all the time and see if everything else works better. But Ipod should not work if I'm right, but maybe it doesn't work as well as you think. This is a long shot but it's super easy to test and is a very common problem.

The iPod mode definitely works perfectly. The AVIC-Z1 was dealer installed, and there aren't any aftermarket amps. I'll check the AV settings in the morning

Not aftermarket amps, sometimes some vehicles have amps in the car from the factory and need to be turned on to work correctly. It's possible, you didn't list the car it was in and what I mentioned was a very common problem.

I guess I failed to mention some crucial info. It's a 2007 4Runner, and everything was working fine before I installed the iPod adapter yesterday. I will check all my connections again today.

JBL system in there?

No, I'm almost positive it just had the base system in it. The dealer installed the Z1 before my parents took delivery of it. I sold the factory head unit for them on eBay a while back, and it didn't have anything that said JBL on it, and neither do the speaker grilles.

Well, did you try pressing that button and seeing if that fixed your problem? I know you are answering lots of stuff about your truck... but it's a 5 minute without tools. Did you try it.?

just tried the ant thing and still static sound on cd's and library..... and still no sound on dvd... also i re checked my speed puls connection and it it good and it still says nok... another thing is in the connection status page is shows my voltage @ 256.04 or something rediculously high like that could that be some of my problem and if so how can i fix???

Super high voltage and some messed up sound? Sounds like it's time to ship it back to Pioneer for repair. Reporting 265 volts is not right. So it's either a problem with the vehicle or the Z1 (or the installation of the Z1). Most likely sounds like a Z1 problem. If there is a sound problem in some modes and not others, that's limited to the Z1 (unless it works in AM/FM and no where else). And with the high voltage, sounds like it's time to send it to the experts at pioneer for repair.

Other than that, I got nothing.

Reporting 265 volts is not right.

Although wouldn't that be great? You could bring your dryer with you when you went camping!

I just removed my AVICZ-1 from my other car into a 2006 Toyota 4Runner and I'm experiencing the exact same problem as listed in this post. When I turn on the radio, the sound comes in perfect, however, when I turn on the library or a CD, the sound comes in very staticky and I can barerly hear it. I'm assuming there's a connection that needs to be made to enable the sound. My previous car had an amp and I connected the blue/white wire to the correct terminal, however, the 4runner i own is the stock radio without an amp. Seeing that this is the only wire that isn't plugged in, could it be that this is a required wire regardless of whether your car has an amp or not? If so, where can I assign it to, the power antenna?
