I used the supplied reverse gear wire. The one that has the snap splicer thing on it and a little black fuse(im guessing its a fuse)

Well I tapped into the reverse light wire and when the car is in reverse I get the test light to light up at the splice, but at the other end of the wire I get nuthing! So is that little black thing a fuse, and maybe I blew it somehow?

*note* The Z1 is still not hooked up, Im just running wires now, and I figured Id check that one after I spliced. So I didnt check with the Z1 on to see if it knows Im in reverse.

Maybe, I don't remember it being there but you could be right, can you cut it out and try jumping that with a wire? The fuse is not a bad idea, if the reverse wire shorts to ground, that fuse should blow first and you should still retain your reverse lights. Without it, if your reverse wire you put in shorts to ground you will blow the fuse in the fuse box and you would most likely lose your reverse lights as well, till you replaced the fuse.

Ill have to try that.

I just didnt know if that is a fuse or some sort of a thing that knows when the wire is hooked up to the Z1, and thats why I got nothing with the test light. *shrugs* I dunno how I couldve blown the fuse if thats what it is......

It's just a resistor, not a big deal if the thing isn't there on the reverse wire. It's there normally to protect the factory wiring. If you want to be overly cautious, you can use a .5 amp fuse it'll have the same effect.

A short in the wire would cause that to go.
