Hello all

Hope someone can please help me, I use an IPOD Nano connected to my Z1 via a CD-IB100ii and for the last 10months I have been having constant problems, it works most of the time but I have to hard reset my Nano, a lot of the time I start up the car and using my Z1 browse to the Ipod to find its frozen up, so I have to disconnect it from the CD-IB100ii and hard reset the ipod and reconnect it back to the Z1 and then browse the Z1's Ipod menu to choose my music.... its really a pain in the ass..as I said sometimes it doesn't do it and it works fine but then there is the days it doesn't!

I wired the CD-IB100ii to the cars ignition so it powers the CD-IB100ii when I start the car up.

Has anyone had this problem before?

You've got the power connection for the interface wrong. That's what's causing your problem. The yellow wire on the interface has to go to a source of CONSTANT +12volts not switched +12volts. Change that and I'm willing to bet your problem goes away.

Thank you cntrylvr79

If its on constant and I leave my Ipod connected overnight won't it drain the battery or will the Ipod shut itself off because its not being used?

Thank you again

It only charges when the key is on. It has constant power but knows to turn off when the key turns off. It just keeps power to remember settings.

Hello all

Thank you for the advice, I switched the Nano's power source today but still doing the same thing, it appears to charge the Nano via the Z1 rather than from the power source itself!

The problem still happens like the apple loading screen sticks so it displays the error on the Z1 display, only way to get the Nano to work again is to hard reset the Nano nad then reconnect it.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Have you tried the five R's?

I know I had to do this once with my ipod. When I just plugged it in, it was a little wacky and didn't work quite right. After the last R (restore and reload) it's been rock solid ever since.

One other thought... The yellow leads goes to constant +12V, the red lead should be taped / cut. At the risk of stating the obvious...

Hi rjedlich

What red lead are you talking about? I have a Yellow and Black, Yellow is now going to constant and the black to ground!

Thanks

There is no red on the ipod interface.

Sorry, my error. Perhaps I was thinking about the power line to the XM unit. I recalled one of them (same connector harness) had a red fused lead with warning affixed stating to not use this if the device is IP bus controlled. Using it could cause device failure... Could have sworn it was iPod interface, guess it was XM... I scratched my head wondering what scenario would call for it's use - guess a non-IP bus device connected to it.
