Hey all, another stupoid question? There is an optional guide speaker qhich can be attached, another one of those (sold seperately) items. I was under the impression and correct me if i am wrong! That if you get a phone call the audio should mute or lower to allow you to hear the phone call, and continue on talking! Also will the audio mute when directions are given from the nav. Doesn't this all happen in the same existing car radio speakers? Why would i buy a guide speaker?

Help! any comments or knoledge on this to shed some light please!

Some people prefer a dedicated guide speaker, thats the bottom line. You can set the options so that the NAV guidance can attenuate your volume while giving directions and/or only come out of one set of speakers, or not mute your music at all. By default I believe it doesn't mute your music it just talks over it.

Same goes for phone calls. So for most consumers, they won't need to use the guide speaker output.

When using the 5.1 Digital processor (DEQ-P8000 & AXM-P8000), this speaker is required since voice guidance and button prompts will no longer be heard through the regualr speakers.
