I hooked up the z1 to the harness, the radio works fine. When i try to play my cds, there's no sound. It reads the cd and displays the artist and songs but there is no sound. I hoping it's something stupid on my end and not the unit. Is there a mute button or whatever that I'm suppose to press to get this thing to work???? I've reset the unit so many times. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hmmmm....I've never tried a CD in mine yet. Maybe I should!

My DVD works though...

I haven't played any CD's in my unit; however, the DVD-ROM works great. I'll surely play a few CD's to ensure my unit operates okay. What type of CD's are attempting to play? I know the AVIC-Z1 is suppose to play all types of formats but...

What kind of car is it in? You might have the factory amp turning off when it goes to cd. If you have the wrong wire hooked up (ie antenna instead of remote amp turn on) it would do what you are describing.
