Wow it updated everything. I had to buy a spindle of dual layer discs to burn it, but so far I've made copies for 4 of my Toyota FJ Cruiser buddies and it's flawless. Pioneer tells me it won't be out until August for the D1. Of course I'll buy a copy then, but since it's NOT AVAILABLE FROM PIONEER I have to take matters into my own hands!

Anyways, all of the roads which were 4-5 years out of date are now perfect. Pioneer should be ashamed of themselves for still selling the D1/D2 with such old maps and technology, then wanting to charge me $250 for a new set in August when I've only had the unit for 30 days. I'm a little disappointed in them, but I love the unit now that I am able to actually USE the Nav!!!

That's great to hear! I just bought the East disc from a seller on ebay and will be putting this in my D1 as well. :D

most of my points of interest were WAY old on the 1.2 disc... this is like night and day. I can actually USE my Nav now!

Don't know if I'll be selling them on eBay any time soon, but I have some available for this forum members if someone needs one.

I can't even imagine how old mine are! I have the original 1.0 discs, not even the updated 1.2 discs you have!

Hey Adam-
Do you have the West Coast Disc? I need a copy of West Coast. Let me know if you do and how much you want for it.

Thanks

Is anyone seeding the East Coast disc on Bit Torrent ?
I'd love to have the update bt spending $250 seems a bit excessive.

Thanks.

Can you give me some specific examples of locations or POI's that are on the new disc and you know for a fact were not on the old disc?

I am trying to verify that the disc I bought is the latest one and I have no way of doing that other than the obvious one - it now says 2006 on the startup screen.

Please let me know asap so that I can leave appropriate feedback for the seller on ebay that I got this from.

What specifically would I be looking for in the hardware info that verifies this?

i think the cdnv 60m disc should show something like this on the harward info

cjnv1175-1

not sure about the 4 letter, but something like that. The last digit, 1 is for east, and 2 is for west disc

Does it glorify the iconic interface for the GUI? Like... do the touch buttons look different on the display?

I'm wondering if the interface would look like that of the Z1 after this update.

No, the touch buttons are the same. This update did not affect that.

according to the instruction manual, it does some change in the interface, but only on the n2

not d1 :(

Is this a firmware upgrade or just a content update ?
I'm asking because I am downloading a copy of the -60MT disk and would like to try it out. If I do "install" it and it doesn't fully work can I go back to my old D1 disc or am I now stuck with the new software ?

Apparently it is supposed to be both a firmware and map upgrade. The map upgrades are mostly for the BC area. I have no idea what firmware upgrades it does. I haven't noticed any.....

I installed this update on my D1 and have not noticed a map update - but then I hadn't used my original 1.0 discs that came with mine for more than a week, so can't be sure that the maps have not been updated that much. This much I know, my neighbourhood which is about 5 years old is NOT on the maps, so I have no idea if the updates are just restricted to major roads and highways and not neighbourhoods. At least the 407 highway - which is about 10 years old is on the maps.

It does do a firmware update, and if you put an old disc in, it will complain that you need to insert a proper navigation disc.

I don't know how to downgrade back, but I know it's possible.

One thing that was evident from the 2 page manual alluded to previously, is that you will have a "HIDE" button with the new software, when previously the button said "ESC"??

I'm only guessing because my car guy loaded the new ebay-bought discs and system before I ever saw mine, so I've never seen the old interface..

Although there's some BIG mistakes on the new one. Is there a place to report "oops's?"

In Cincinnati if you try to navigate to Forest Fair Mall (been there over 10 years), you don't get within two X-way exits and are in the middle of a cow pasture (you can see the mall in the distance) when you're told, "You're at your destination!"

I doubt very much you would be able to use your original old West coast disc once you have used the newer one off ebay - this is simply because the newer one will update the firmware and then the old one (regardless of which one it is - west or east) will not work.

That's correct, the old disc will no longer work. I've heard there is a way to downgrade the firmware, but I don't know how that's done.
