No notification ring for incoming call

Just installed Z2 this weekend with Bluetooth and iPod adapters. However, when I receive a phone call, there is no notification ring, just a popup message on the screen. Looked through the manual but didn't find anything helpful.

Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks for any help

This is from the Z1 manual, check chapter 10 page 91 "Modifying the General Settings for Navigation Functions" It might be different in the Z2 manual.

Entering the Settings Menu

1 Press the MENU button to display the

navigation menu.

2 Touch [settings] to display the Settings

menu.

3 Change the setting.

Adjusting each item ➞ Page 91 to 98

❒ This section describes the details of the

setting for each item. Settings marked with

an asterisk (*) show that they are default or

factory settings.

Setting the Volume Related to

the Guidance and Phone

The sound volume for the navigation can be set.

You can separately set the volume of the route

guidance and the beep sound.

1 Touch [settings] in the navigation menu,

then touch [Volume].

2 Touch [+] or [–] to set their volume.

On this screen, you can operate the following items.

I did that already. The volume levels are set appropriately. I am going to play around with the settings again tomorrow, and see what happens.

Thanks, ducatiboy

could it be the incoming ring might be played through a center speaker or something? It's possible, but if the ring volume is all the way up, and you don't get a ring, there is either something incompatible with the Z2 and the phone or it's coming out of a speaker you don't have hooked up or something but I don't know if that's even an option.

I did hear the ring, which was very faint, today after I maxed out the Phone Ring volume in settings. However the ring came not from the car speakers, but from the Z2 unit itself. Is this how it's supposed to be?

I get mine from the car speakers, which is very weird. Something sounds weird with your speaker wiring and car speaker interface.

Not sure, but maybe you are right, and it is a wiring problem. I have a 2001 Audi S4 with Bose. I did use the specific Metra harness and it said that with Bose I have to connect the front and rear speakers through the RCA cables on the harness only, and that's what I did. It works because the sound comes out from all speakers, but not the phone ring. I am going to mess around with it more.

BTW, to where do you usually hook up the amp. turn on? I hooked mine to the Remote Control lead of the Z2. Before it was on ACC.

If onyone knows, are there any specifics on wiring Z2 with the Bose in my car?

Correction: The phone ring does come from the speakers. The sound is very weak. And it does not respond to the volume level adjustments in the settings. No matter what the level is, max or none, you can barely hear it.

Any thoughts, please?

all I can say is, your not alone.

I'm having the same problem.

My wife was driving my car the first time, she claimed she heard it before.

But when I was in it, it was what you describe, low and faint, does not respond to volume adujustment

I see.

I had a chance to try another unit in my car yesterday. Same thing. The ring was a little louder this time, but still did not allow volume adjustments.

I guess this issue is minor, inconvenient, but still tolarable. If I come across a solution, that's fine, but for now it's not worth the trouble as long as the rest of the system is working.
