I just installed a D3 and have encountered a possible problem. I only get the fancy XM icons on the display when the NAVI dvd is in the slot. Is this normal?

Is there a way to get the icons to remain without leaving the disc in?

yes that is normal they are stored on the disc.

Its funny, when I called Pioneer, the tech said the XM tuner was totally seperate from the D3 and the icons should appear without the DVD installed.

You would think the techs would know this. The tech I spoke with said the XM tuner was defective. They wanted me to send the XM tuner back for repair, which would take at least 10 days, and shipping would be my dime.

Anyway, thanks for the info, this is a great site.

I am sure some one here will confirm.

The XM icons are indeed stored on the DVD nav disc. I have hacked the 60M series disc with much help from people here to update the channels with all the new logos.
