Is there a quick mute option that works with any soure that is active? Maybe I'm missing something but I can't find it anywhere.

On another note: The steering wheel remote sucks. It only works about half the time. I had one of these units in my last car and it sucked too. That was about 3 years ago so I figured they had improved it. Not so.

The hard wired remote (SWI-PS) for the steering wheel controls has a mute option. I just used a button I don't ever use for it. Works great. It's actually called "attenuate" with this unit.

What if I don't have steering wheel controls from the factory?

Then I think you're stuck with one of the Pioneer IR remotes. By the way, I really think when someone has intermittant issues with the IR remote, it has more to do with positioning than anything else. The sensor just can't get a good signal.

Thanks for the info. I don't think I have much choice with the possitioning of the steering wheel remote so I guess I'll just have to live with it.

Where do you see a mute button on the SR remote? I have one and I still have to hold the source button to mute it

No kidding? That is a serious oversight. I wonder why you can mute through the SWI-PS and not through their own remote?? That's silly.
