Is it possible to maybe delete some data on a disc (like states I don't need) and make it fit onto a single layer DVD? I want to make back-ups incase of scratches, etc, but I don't want to buy DL-DVD's to do it.

So what happens if your nav discs get scratched up, you have to use the backups now. Then you move to one of those states that you deleted the poi info for? Now you're spending alot more than the cost of a couple dual layer dvds to get the mapping info back...
Maybe he would use the backup instead of the real DVD? What about his question, is it possible?
Can't say for sure, don't know how the poi information is stored on the dvds. I always just used dl-dvds whenever I needed to make a disc.
Spend the $3 bucks for a DL DVD. It is worth it. If you start deleting the POI files, you will lose some address/location information as well.
