Has anyone hacked into the "External Unit" controls that are described in the D3 user manual?

 

My guess is that the head unit would send commands to the Pioneer add-on equipment over the IP-Bus. I would prefer to build my own hardware and control it from the head unit over the IP-Bus if needed. With this in mind does anyone have any information on the communications protocals used by the IP-Bus?
