The Z2 is installed and works fine. Onstar works and the steering wheels controls are fine. All good there! I'm using the camera from Vizualogic's Hindsight package -

This has a nice bracket that mounts above the hitch. Perfect location! The wire that runs from the camera to the head unit has a round end with 4 pins. The Z2 accepts an RCA connector. I'm thinking this is no big deal. My buddy and I cut the 4 pin connector off and wired it to an RCA connector. We can't get the camera to work. I think he tried every combination of wires but no dice. We tapped into the back-up light wire for activation when the truck is in reverse.

I'm not sure if the different connector is the problem or maybe this needs to be fed into an AV switcher. I'm going to need that when the headrest monitors come in and when I hook up the camera in back of my car hauler. There was some actitivity on the screen when he tried different wires (sometimes jumped from split screen to full view but no activity from the camera.

Any suggestions? I don't think changing the ends will be a problem as long as the correct wires are connected. Not sure if we are missing something here.

Thanks!

You didn't need to cut the DIN plug off. The Vizualogic part #90-6011 is a cable extention that converts the DIN plug to a RCA video connector with power wires for the camera. With that being said, I don't think this will help you now. I haven't cut one of the camera cables, so I'm not sure what the color of the wires may be. I would assume there would be four wires in that cable; video conductor, video shield, power, and grd. I would look for common colors; red=power, blk=grd, yellow=video. Good luck.

Thanks for the info! I called there a little while ago and spoke with Ben. He said they don't have anything like this and the camera can only be hooked up to one of their monitors. I know that isn't true (anything is possible :) ) so there has to be a way. If they no longer have that part availble then matching up the wires on an RCA connection should allow this to work.

I have the cable in stock. The hindsight system is now discontinued, but before, you could purchase the camera separately and it came w/ the 90-6011 cable. The same cable also works for their key hole camera.

I'd like to purchase this if possible. I can be reached at [email protected].

Thanks!

Sorry, I need it for the key hole cam. I'll check tomorrow to see if it is avalible through Vizualogic.
