I just got a z2 installed the other day and I am not sure if the vss wire is hooked up. I go into the hardware screen and then connection status and the speed pulse does nothing while i drive, but if I go into the 3d calibration screen or the vehical dynamics it does show my speed? Does this sound right or did the installers not hook up the wire(s). Also the illumination says "off" in the connection status screen and when I turn the lights on it does not dim or say "on"?, as well the back up status does not change when I put it in reverse? Any help would be much appreciated.

If the speed pulse does not count up, then your VSS is not connected or is connected to the wrong wire. And yes the unit will still function and the speedo in the vehicle dynamics will still work. Also if the ill and rev's status never changes then neither of those have been connected or are connected improperly. What type of vehicle is it?

It's a 2002 Hyundia Elantra. Any thoughts on were and what colors the wires are? Is it a problem not having them hooked up? Will the nav not be accurate? I think I should take it back to the instaler and get them to install it properly after all that is what I paid them for!

The navigation will still be accurate. You will need the VSS in two scenarios though.

- When you have no GPS signal, the gps can still correctly track your mvoement

- When you make a stop it will immediately stop the arrow movement as opposed to the usually 2sec delay.

What about the back up. Is that just for back up cameras?

Yes, the reverse wire is just for the cam. The ill wire controls the fading of the screen and background of the map at night.

Thanks for your help guys.

If you don't mind I have a couple more problems maybe you could answer for me.I have the XM GEX-P920XM tuner installed and the xm seems to be working just fine I get all the channels and it isn't cutting out. But if I go into the xm status screen it says there is not radio, antenna or signal hooked up at all, but the radio plays fine? How do I check the signal strength? Is this a problem or yet another wire not hooked up? It would be nice to see the signal strength.

That stuff doesn't show up unless you have the nav traffic xm tuner.
