I brought my Z1 this past January and to date this has been the best system that I ever had, It has not giving me any problem what so ever and I mean that, The reason I'm posting this is because I have heard so many people talk about all the problem that they had with this unit. Now just to let you know my unit was manufactured on Dec of 2006 and I heard some people say that the main problem is with the newer unit when they first come out and that you should wait to buy it so that they can work all the kinks out of the system and that is why I waited to buy my unit when I did. Now just to let you know that my Z1 does everything and I mean everything when I drive cause I have it bypassed. I don't agree with pulling over every time you need to set a destination or make a phone call if you know what I mean, I Have the XM nav traffic and the blue tooth too. I know if I'm on the phone and somebody is trying to call me on the other line the phone will disconnect if I don't click over and answer the phone and I hate that. I have all my cds on the Z1 hard drive so now I can leave my cds at home and the Manual say that you can't burn that cds you made at home and that bull, I have burned alot of cds off itunes and then copy them in to the hard drive and I just love it or if I go over a friends house and they have a cd that I like I just ask if I can used it for 10 or 20 minute so that I can copy to the Z1 and I can give them their cd back and now I have a copy of the CD and the nav traffic has save me so many times in Los Angeles traffic. I'm sorry about this being so long I just wanted to let everybody know that all Z1 don't have problems.
The Z1 is the best and I mean that.

Paragraphs don't believe in me! Why should I return the favor. I also don't believe in global warming or the lone gunman.
Well Professor Ducatiboy did not indicate whether our posts have to be in APA or MLA format!
I agree, as much as people complain about the Z1, I haven't had those issues yet.
I'm in the metropolitan Seattle Downtown area, and the Teleatlas mapping is very good.
I guess people who complain must be in areas where the mapping is not as good.
Bluetooth is great. No echo issue. GPS signal even better after hooking up my VSS.
Besides that, I get a lot of compliments on my Z1 as the hottest in dash aftermarket multimedia Navigation System out right now.
I am guessing you never had to drive your car into Mexico. If you did, don't expect this GPS to do a damn thing.
Ever had to search for an intersection? Maybe that's just the Garmin coming out of me.
And you probably don't own an iPod. If you do, you either use playlists or don't have very many songs. For me, I have 2 80GB iPods...one is full and the other has about 10GB left on it. That's around 30,000 songs or so (320KBPS).
Ever been listening to music loud, and answer a phone call? Try to turn down the music! Oh, and hopefully your phone call stays connected for more than a few minutes if you have a Bluetooth 2.0 phone.
Voice command? English is not a foreign language, but "Calle" is Spanish...and many of our streets begin with Calle (pronounced "Kai-A" not "Call-E")
Shit...I think I am ranting...I'll stop here but the list goes on.
Yesterday I had the same optimistic opinion of the Z1. Absolutely loved it...even though it doesn't sort by Album under Artists. TODAY it froze up at the boot screen due to heat (it's hot here in Houston). Not so thrilled.
Everyone keeps talking about this heat issue. I live in AZ and its 5PM right now and 107 outside. I park my car in the hot sun with no windshield shade. The inside of the car gets well over 120, so hot that the metal seatbelt will cause blistering. But I have never had a problem. Should I consider myself lucky?
Well, considering there are several long posts with people complaining of this problem (several of us here in Houston) which seems to be attributed to heat buildup and you live in AZ not having this heat related issue...yeah, I say your fortunate.
My Bluetooth works great. No echos. Callers dont even notice I'm on Hands free link Bluetooth. Not sure why you keep losing connection on YOUR Phone but its probably your phone.
Voice command is great. I own a luxury Sports sedan so its quiet inside the cabin. Plus you should adjust your mic placement. I use voice command often and gets it everytime.
As for the music, the Z1 mutes the music when you have an incoming call. You should explore the options in the setting.
Why would I drive my Luxury Sports Sedan to Mexico? Most people would just go there for vacation maybe by plane.
I really think you should look into see how your unit is installed because it seems like you are not getting the most of it. (mic placement, etc)
Because I have my unit installed and made sure it was installed correctly and works great.
One feature I would like to see in the future is intersection search, that probably might come in handy maybe.

Yes, so does mine. It's just that the Z1 is not fully compatible with phones that support Bluetooth 2.0, such as the 8528 (mine), Treo, Blackjack, etc.

My voice command works great, too. It just takes longer than I can type and doesn't recognize Spanish words very well.

Yes, that is a setting. But what if I want quite music in the background. Say you are listening to the radio at 10 or so. When the call comes in, 10 goes down to say 2. But if you are listening at 20, it goes down to 10 or so. Far too loud to hold a communication over. The reason for this is Pioneer chose to do muting by either full mute, or a decible decrease. It should have been an exact setting. For example, go to 4 when I am on a call.
This is also true for the guidence feedback. I would like to see a "fade" in the volume and not a sharp cutoff. I own three cars, my Lexus RX330 and Cadillac SRX both have factory nav systems and they do this. In addition, they have speed-biased volume. Faster I go = more road noise = higher listening volume. Z1 doesn't have this feature.

Not when you live 45 mins from the border and are just going to Rocky Point for a weekend. The navigation stops right at the border. Doesn't even track major highways in Mexico. Garmin anybody?

This isn't going to correct I slow iPod interface.
An advanced aftermarket radio, such as Pioneer's units without navigation, along with a Garmin, is a much better setup, albiet ugly.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the Garmin is right on the money with address numbers. Doesn't just bring me to the street and say "You have arrived at your destination." Garmin could park my car in the driveway.
