Ive burned 2 mp3 discs now on dvd-r's using roxio and nero and I keep getting "disc is unreadable" error on my avic-z2. To say the least Im SUPER CHOKED!!!! I took my discs into my electronics store here and they play fine on the alpine and clarion dvd decks. When i bought my avic-z2 , i thought i was buying the best deck on the market and the damn thing wont even read mp3's, wtf?? Is it just my deck or thats it, they just dont read em??? I wont go on about the other things that choke me on this deck, but other than the bypass not working , this seems to be the major thing bugging me now
, thanx for any support guys.
Can the Avic-z2 read mp3's from a dvd-r disc????
they are not readable. You can only have cds with mp3s. Only the D3 at this point is capable of having mp3s on a dvd
do you think there will be an update that will fix this down the road?? How can pioneer get away with this? Its like buying a top of the line dvd player and it wont read cd's. Mp3's are standard these days, how can a deck made in 2007 be so outdated already? I hate pioneer for doing this. I was all excited that i wasnt gonna need a changer anymore, now im back at square one. OK so whats the solution for my problem here?? Do i need to go buy an ipod?? Is the avic-z2 ipod ready or do i need to buy another attachment which im sure pioneer has conveniently set up to suck more money out of us, those fuckers grrrr .
there is some software out there to convert MP3's to a readable format for the Z2, someone will either chime in, or you could look around for it, it has been discussed several times on here.
or you could just go buy the clarion or alpine unit and quit your bitchin. ![]()

You're nice x 0 . If pioneer cared about their customers , they wouldnt have done such a stupid move. They're customers shouldnt have to bitch after spending 2 g's on a deck that cant read mp3's properly.
This has pissed me off too...
The only way that I have read is to use the latest version of Roxio Media Creator, which lets you create "Music DVDs"
It is a DVD video with a menu that you can select your music from and play it. It does not keep the MP3 format, but it works well and can hold many songs (not sure of exact number). Oh, and you will need your unit bypassed to play this "DVD" while driving! Once the song is playing, it will just show a pretty background with the song title on it. Pretty easy to use software.
As far as I know, Nero does not have this capability yet (I wish!)

It is ipod ready, which means that you have to buy another unit in order to make it ipod cabable. The wire costs around 50 or so dollars.
