as i have installed my unit. i found out that pioneer has decided to make the wires for the extra extra's a foot or so shorter. why u may ask? well i did too and then i called pioneer. well what i found out was interesting. the sales associate told me she was getting more orders for extension on wires such as the a/v bus cable and ip bus cable. i would also assume it is the same for the gps cable. i asked her is this an accident and without telling me too much to get her into trouble, she said nothing pioneer has done is an accident. lets put it this way, we have alot of extra extension wires for sale....

not an accident huh...

well all my wires are short, about 1 or 2 feet shorter. and this is just to get it into the trunk area. so i spent another 100 bucks to get two ext wires.

Ha. Do you really think the lady that answers the phones in the parts department gets on the phone to the engineers in Japan to find out why they made a cable shorter? Or do you think she was being sarcastic because she makes $9 an hour? :-) The P-bus and A/V bus are still the same length btw

I think she's being extremely serious. After you have worked for a company for a while you know how they do business. I'm sure that she's probably gotten info from marketing or whatever that has implied that this is a new method that they are using to increase profits. Think about it, generally speaking the wiring is cheap. But if you can sale it for, uhhhhh let's say $5/ft then why not.
