I spoke with metra today and it seems that they are having a major quality control problem with the gmos-04 units. I guess this might explain why i have tried two and had no luck whatsoever. they are well aware of the issue and explained what is wrong with the devices.

According to technical support if you take the device and face it rca or smaller side of the bus away from you remove the top cover and look on the circuit board to the right you will find a processor labeled "470". it seems that the "feet" so to speak, have been broken or cracked and have a lack of solder holding them together causing ultimately device failure. I was instructed that this could be corrected during install, but i have my doubts as well as you guys

It seems that in addition they have recalled the devices from locations and fixed them and resent them back out. When i went to best buy today i was also informed about the recent recall and that they had just recieved new devices to replace them. I saw they had three, all which had a new model number applied by metra over the old model number sticker on both the inside of the unit and on the exterior packaging, so i bought all three just in case 1 insn't anygood since metra informed be that they were on backorder and finding some is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I used a heat gun and removed the first sticker to reveal the old defective model numbers read something like 0722266A11 and the new fixed devices read 0722266B11. I will be testing tommorow to see if this solves the issue of the dead gmos-04.

I hope this research helps someone else save a few steps of grief during their install in the future or maybe shine light on thier problems in the past. thank you guys for all your help and if you have any suggestions to any other solution or model numbers of something other than metra i would welcome the info just in case
