Upgrading from D1 to D3...question...

Hey,

I currently have a D1 installed in my '04 Sequoia. I like the interface changes, as well as the new look of the D3. Plus, they've finally made the software look GOOD for the iPod.

I had tried the iPod interface with the original (D1), and it blew!

My basic question is this. Are the connecting cables the same? It looks like the RCA plug pack and the POWER plug pack will jack right into the D3, which means that I can install this bad boy in about 10 minutes or less if that's the case.

It is somewhat difficult to be certain looking at the pictures and diagrams I've seen, and I want to know for sure before taking the plunge...mainly because I'm headed on a cross country trip and don't have much spare time beforehand to dedicate to this process. If the jacks are the same, it makes it easier to justify!

Please let me know if anyone has an answer....

Thanks,

Bryan

Nope the only thing that's the same between the d1/2 and the d3 is the gps antenna.

Hey,

I just upgraded to the D3 from the D1. Put everthing in place, with the bypass and everything seemed smooth for a few days around town before I left on a 6000 mile drive with the family.

Now, this damn thing starts freaking out on the drive, throwing me into the middle of Los Angeles, CA for no particular reason when I'm in the middle of Missouri.

Looked at the GPS strength, and left it on that screen. Went from all sats to 4 sats, to no sats, to 4 sats to 3 sats to no sats, etc. etc. over the course of 10 minutes sitting still in a parking lot. GPS is mounted in a fine location, using the same one that was in use and worked fine on the D1.

Pulled the head unit out, to check the connection. Made sure it was snug and put it back together and did a reset on the friggin' unit. Now, today, driving through Denver, this damn thing starts telling me I'm 400 to 1000 feet way from where I am, and periodically putting me back in LA. After a time, it will usually put me NEAR (But not exactly) where I am actually at.

But driving at speed, it will throw me off of the Interstate by 2000 feet or more. You can imagine the problem when I was trying to find a CompUSA today in Denver, and it kept flipping out and me in rush f**king hour traffic there.

I had to break out my g.d. streets and maps on my laptop. Ridiculous!!

Any ideas as to what may be the problem? Is there a firmware update? Did I just get a lemon.

Any advice is welcome,

Bryan
