Dash by the windsheild should be fine if you want to keep it on the inside of the vehicle.

Yea defiantly keep it inside. We replace a lot of n1/n2 antennas because they have been put on the roof. Damn circuit board gets water logged. Trust me it will save you 50 bucks.
