I'm totally over dealing with the crappy ass installs that a lot of big boxes put out anymore. So whatever, you guys want to go to one of them to have your install done? Do yourself a favor, ask to see their cars, and pictures of work they've done. If anything seems out of place or not quite right, run don't walk out of there... In the end it's your choice in the matter.
I really don't care anymore...
I agree, what made you post this though?
Seeing some f'd up pics and 4 or 5 cars in the last 2 days. I don't see the point of trying to stick up for people when a crappy job is done repeatedly.
My Circuit City installer did a fucking awesome job putting my system in. Located right off the GSP. ![]()
It all depends on the installer! Some installers at my store can put a deck in a civic in like 20 minutes when it takes the rest of us 30, but its the same guys that run and hide when they see a navi system want to be installed. Just talk with the installer first, and if he doesn't seem excited to put it in don't let him.
sounds like what cntrylvr is saying
it took my installer nearly 2 hours to put my D3 in. Should I be nervous?
what do you think?
Took me about 30 minutes to install mine and I had never installed a navi before. Yea, I think 2 hours is a little long. Probably to up the install charges on you or just plain incompetence.
I usually tell people its going to take 3-4 hours in the quote and we charge $250 for a navi install. Sure it might only take 30 minutes in one car, but you never know exactly where the reverse and vss wires are going to actually be at. Its a hit or miss. Don't worry orangeelement, they probably just took their time because they didn't want to mess anything up, as long as it all works like its supposed to you should be fine.
yeah, it all depends on the car. besides, you dont want it done too fast. thats how shit gets broken
I average an hour and half to two hours for navi install. Generally includes 1 or 2 smoke breaks.
My original Circuit City install of my N3 at the Valley Stream, NY store took 4.5 hours! And of course it wasnt done right either lol
By no stretch of the imagination was it done right or even the easy way. Talk about a stupid ass way to bypass the factory amp...
LOL why not waste two hours twisting wire with a cordless drill if they are getting paid by the hour? lazy azz peoples
hmm, circuit city, huh? ![]()
Yea that was my first mistake. And it was in a crazy busy mall, so they don't usually do any TLC at that shophmm, circuit city, huh?
What some people don't realize, is yeah a place like bb, cc, or a mom and pop shop, may have your car for upwards of 4 hours. That doesn't mean they're working on your car the whole time. More often than not, an hour may go by without you vehicle even being touched. I know I've had to do that in the past. Especially if I'm alone in the shop with a lot of work to do. Normally I'll add an extra hour or two to the time I think it'll take me to do the actuall install. Gives me a little leewaay should a problem arise or if I get something like a radio to throw in.
Btw the if you guys think 4 hours is a long time, hows this one. I bought my d1 in september of 2005. I started the install at the end of october of 2005 and here it is half way through July of 2007 and I'm still not done with it. ![]()
