D3/BTB200 and the "Direct" button

I've got my BTB200 paired with a Blackberry 8703e from Verizon and when I try to use the "direct" button and dial from the head unit, the button is only lit up part of the time. Once, in the middle of dialing on the screen of the radio, it went away and the screen went back to the presets. What's this all about?

Also, is there any way to put a name on the preset tabs instead of just the number?

Verizon blocks their bluetooth and a lot of the settings, so I doubt you can put a name on the tab instead of the number.

Your first question is definitely strange, dont want to suggest there. But the answer to your second question is no. There is no way to enter a name for the presets on the D3.

Thanks for the answers. I knew about Verizon and there money making tactics of blocking Bluetooth so you have to buy ringtones/pictures instead of getting them from other cell phones with better carriers, but I wasn't too sure about the name labels.
