Hello All,

I am about to order a Pioneer Z2 for my 04 Mercury Mountaineer. I am looking for as much information as I can get to make my installation as smooth and ease as possible.

So if anyone can answer some or all of these questions I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Questions:

Are their any known issues with installing this unit in the 04 Mountaineer?

Does anyone known the part number/s for the correct wiring harness needed to connect to the vehicles factory connector and/or the best place to get them?

Where can I find the VSS connection?

Do I need any special face place/ bezel or will it install cleanly as is?

Any think special I should know before starting?

Alright this quest may be a tough one. I also want to install a rear seat monitor, preferably one that flips down from the ceiling. My Mountaineer has a factory sun roof without rear air ceiling controls. Does anyone know the best choice for a monitor and how it would be installed?

Not really, it's a ford.

Depends on if you have the factory sub or not.

70-5521 with the audiophile system and factory sub

70-1771 without the above

Where can I find the VSS connection?

gray/black at the radio harness. If not there, then same color at the windsheild wiper motor.

Do I need any special face place/ bezel or will it install cleanly as is?

95-5026

Pretty straight forward vehicle. Pry the dash trim around the radio out. Disconnect the harnesses and remove. Then 2 7mm bolts at the base of the radio. Take them out then slide the radio out. Disconnect the harnesses and put in a box and store it.

Something lightweight since the steel brace by the rear of the sunroof opening isn't that strong and that brace is going to have to support the weight of the overhead.

Is the one I normally recommend for customers with your vehicle. Built in dvd player, an aux input for a game console, and an aux output so you can hook it up to the dash monitor. Big plus is it's light. Now I know it is a jensen screen, but since audiovox bought the jensen name a couple years ago the picure quality of the screen is really good.

hey, if your interested and your interior is tan. i've got a set of myron & davis headrest monitors that i recently took out of my 04 mountaineer. they are in perfect shape and the color match is dead on. i'll sell em pretty cheap since i have no use for em anymore

cntrylvr79 Thanks for the welcome and taken the time to answer my questions; your answers should help me get a good head start on getting my unit installed.

MisFit I was planning on a flip down screen but since my interior is Tan, if you PM me a model number and price I’ll consider it.

Thanks guys
