Does anybody have any ideas about where I can hide the brains (and the xm module)? I know my car has a double din slot so I could have went with a d3, but I got an amazing deal on a brand new n3 for $500 and couldn't give it up. I've tried everything I can think of including under the front seats and behind the glovebox, but I just cna't find room.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

eric

Trunk....I think they make an extension for the data cable..Or just shove it under the front carpet on the passenger side

Pick up a data cable extension for pioneer $30 I think and throw it in the trunk.

I pulled a n1 out of a jeep cherokee the other day and the brain was under the passenger carpet, turned sideways and held down with duct tape and hot glue. Me and the other installer lost it when we pulled the carpet back  The vss and reverse weren't hooked up. We put his new z2 in and he was shocked at how much better the nav system worked. Just thought I'd share

Reminds me of an n2 I had to troubleshoot when I was over at the blue box. N2 doesn't do anything other than open and close. So I pull the truck in pop the deck out to follow it to the brain since I couldn't find it under any of the seats. The truck was an 02 grand cherokee by the way. Any way the data cable goes to the passenger floor. So pop the pass sill plate off and pull back the carpet. There I see the brain sitting in an inch of water. Show the customer and inform him there's nothing I can do. He needed a new brain an data cable since both were corroded beyond belief....

Was the water due to a poorly drilled hole through the firewall for a power wire?

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 02:42 UTC#9

No, the ac drain got clogged and overflowed back into the truck.

Good old dahlmer chyrsler. And whats up with them throwing that hemi in everything they can think of?

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 03:23 UTC#11

YEah I'm surprised there's anything in their line that doesn't have the option for a hemi...

Ever get the customer you ask them what kind of car they have and all they say is "I've got a Hemi." I love them... I didn't ask what engine, I asked what kind of vehicle it is.

ha hell yea.. My favorite is when they give the color of the car "Well, I have a purple neon." "Oh, I'm sorry the purple one's can't be worked on indoors unless its friday the 13th and a full moon at midnight.

Reminds me of a lady came in one day to have an amp/sub installed in her custom green v6 civic....

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 03:43 UTC#14

ha stupid ass people..Where are you working at

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 03:45 UTC#15

Best butt... I mean buy

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 03:50 UTC#16

Yea same here. How about those damage claims ab the broken windows with the satellite mounts. And are you going on that bus install thing?

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 03:52 UTC#17

I loved hearing about those. Actually had one just before I left. I don't work for best butt any more. Now it's circuit, though I might end up back over there since my boss here is well useless. What is this bus thing you speak of.

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 03:57 UTC#18

I'm not 100% sure but installers are being sent to install some type of child/security system in a bunch of busses apparently. At a couple different places around the country. I was looking into going but we only have 2 installers right now so it's not really an option. None of the managers or district people would let us leave.

Ahh sounds fun. Wish I could maybe then I'd finally meet Murph and the infamous Ron Gold.

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 04:04 UTC#20

haha god damnit...Ron has been MIA for like 10 months or so I think, I miss his tips and comments. Now theres a bunch of jackasses who think everyone else is a shitty installer compared to them and their 100+years of mecp experience

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 04:12 UTC#21

Of course. Want to shut one of those installers up really quick.... Give them a 300 or magnum for r/s alarm keyless trunk pop and dome supervision. And tell them NO interfaces. Gotta do everything with relays. That'll send em packing quick.

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 04:20 UTC#22

haha i'll keep that in mind man thanks...Shit they would freak out having to do just a radio in an 05 magnum and having to by pass the amp

Posted Jul 24, 2007 · 19:41 UTC#23

Done that, cntry. I installed 3 Autopage 850's in Chrysler 300's in the first week they were available. No interface, had to do the wind up the wire thingy. And about 30 relays.
