I called a couple shops and they have told me that Pioneer is supposed to be doing a new model and replacing the SIR-PNR2. They told me it should be about 30 days until this is available.

What I am wondering is does anyone know if this is true and if so, do you think it is in preparation for the XM and SIR signals to be processed by one tuner?

I really wanted to get my SIR hooked up right away (I finally decided I wanted to do it a now I have to either wait 30 or buy the old version) but don't want to buy the old one just in time for it to be replaced with a new and probably better unit. (Just like the BT100 vs. BT200)

I doubt it's due to the merger since it didn't happen.

they are in the process of shipping a new part very similar to the xm part, it is a universal sirius box from directed electronics, all we are waiting on is the cable to go from the box to pioneer head units.

I was not told of any difference so i am still installing pnr2 in all cars till there gone

As far as the merge goes we should not have to change anything in our cars to get sirius after the merge is complete.......think of everybody that already has a pnr1 or a pnr2

That makes sense. I actually talked to 2 people at Pioneer and there is no new box coming out. The universal box sounds cool but I really have no need for a universal and I'm sure it'll work just like the dedicated units.

I went a head and called a different shop and had them order a unit in, and it'll be here tomorrow so I'm all set.
